RESTORING THE INDIAN
Listen to Alex Trepanier recount his meticulous restoration of the 1911 Indian Motorcycle that now resides at the Gordon R Howard Museum.
We finally had a chance to showcase the 1911 Indian at the October 3rd exclusive member event at Story Tavern. The Slaught family, having provided the outdoor setting and refreshments for our program, presented all of us with a wonderful and safe opportunity to do something different.
All the content used in this video was graciously shared by Alex Trepanier and Ted Slaught. We are truly grateful to them and the entire Slaught family for their time and generosity.
The motorcycle’s ownership history is a fascinating story that requires a separate spotlight of its own, so check back on November 23rd for that ‘In the Spotlight’ feature.
DESCENDED FROM BICYCLES
Watch our short piece – America’s First Motorcycle Company? – and learn about the origins of the motorcycle. And yes, while it only scratches the surface of the larger and grander story behind the Indian Motorcycle and the history of this vehicular marvel, it will serve as a stepping stone to a more in-depth article or program we hope to share with you in 2021.
Many thanks to Alex Trepanier and the Slaught Family for their contributions to this piece. If you haven’t already, please make sure to watch our other video – Restoring a Vintage 1911 Indian Motorcycle – to hear Alex talk about the restoration of our 1911 Indian.
