What can you look forward to as a member?
There's so much to cover, it's hard to decide where to begin. Our new normal is anything but that, and because change is the one thing that's constant in our present environment, all of our ideas must be fluid in nature.
So let's begin by addressing some of our priorities and what you’d likely ask us if you could:
When will the museum open?
What will change in response to the Covid19 crisis?
Are you planning any new programming?
Are there other benefits we can expect from this new member portal?
When will the museum open?
At this time, facilities and organizations in our category -- museums, galleries, zoos and aquariums -- have not yet been approved to reopen. For now we’ve scheduled a tentative reopen for Saturday, January 2, 2021. We’ll confirm that date, or perhaps change it once we’ve been notified. Either way, we’ll let you know.
What’s changing because of Covid19?
Our list of changes is long, but our desire to keep our staff and visitors safe is what makes that list of action items a vital necessity. Like some of the retail stores you’ve frequented during the crisis, you can expect similar guidelines that include the following:
A single point of entry
Face mask requirement
Hand sanitizer stations
Cleaning and disinfecting protocols
Designated routes throughout the museum to prevent the crossflow of visitor traffic
There’s more, of course, but we’re still in the planning stage so expect additional information to come as we continue to firm up the details.
Are we planning any new programming?
We certainly are. If possible, we’d very much like to offer you some virtual programming while our doors remain closed. And though we have no clue yet when we’ll be approved and equipped to schedule live, in-person programs, it’s something we know will definitely return. To that end, we’re already working on a wish list of programs we’d like to bring you once we’re cleared to do so.
